The photo below shows all three owners of the company. Joseph is in the left back row. Emory is second from right in the front row, and John is to the right in the front row. This photo was taken when Joseph was in his 70’s, in the early 1920’s at the height of the company’s success.
I include this as the last of the main family photos to be posted so that we have a good idea of the typical family, running the typical Gearhart Knitting Machine family business during the early 20th century. They look pretty normal and happy to me, although they do seem to be leaning uphill.
The little kid sitting on the lap of the woman next to Emory is Joseph Gearhart II, son of Emory. Joseph Gearhart II is my uncle and is still living.
